Week 19 entry for 52 weeks challenge.

As you’ll see if you work out the angles, this was taken from the passenger seat the other day. I wanted to capture the combination of camera, wing-mirror, a bit of self-portrait, the traffic behind us and the traffic beside us at the lights.

Listography

For some amusement I thought I’d delve into the weekly Listography from Kate Takes 5. So here are my five contributions for this week’s theme: Bad Combinations.

Pubic Hair + Wax
Well really any hair and wax, or sticking plasters. Just say no. Ouch!!!!

Knife + Finger
Yes I had a knife and finger incident a few days ago and successfully removed the tip of my little finger.

Chilli + Genitals
Actually, again, chilli plus any sensitive tissues – nose, eyes, etc. But chilli and naughty bits is great fun – NOT!

Shorts + Shoes and Socks
What is it about middle-aged British men that as soon as the summer sun appears they wear shorts but with their normal shoes and socks? Shorts with dark calf-length socks and brogues looks decidedly naff.

Meat + Sugar
Meat with anything sweet is to me horrible. Whoever thought of eating meat with jam?! I’m OK with meat and fruit, it’s the sugar that inevitably goes with it I detest.

Anyone else going to contribute ideas?

[17/52] Pussy Porn

Week 17 entry for 52 weeks challenge.

Over the long weekend we’ve started the process of clearing out the rat’s nest known as our study. Progress has been slow, but steady.

Anyway I was sitting at my desk early on Monday morning, and trying vainly to wake up, when I heard this rustling sound. I checked and the pickled pussy wasn’t in Noreen’s chair so I thought “oh well she’s probably burrowing under Noreen’s desk somewhere”.

Some minutes later I heard the rustling again, and turning round saw Sally emerging from the cardboard box which was stacked inaccessibly behind my chair. This had clearly been sleeping place for the night having clambered over various obstacles including my big camera bag.

Just what is it about cats and boxes?

[13/52] Magnolia

[13/52] Magnolia
Week 13 entry for 52 weeks challenge.

This is the magnificent magnolia in the churchyard outside St James’s, Piccadilly, London. Taken against the backdrop of the church, which was designed by Sir Christopher Wren but much restored.

The church also contains a small memorial to the poet, artist and mystic William Blake (28 November 1757 – 12 August 1827) who was baptised there on 11 December 1757.

The churchyard of St James’s hosts an Antiques Market on Tuesdays and an Arts & Crafts Market on Wednesday to Saturday. I’ve not been to the former, but the latter is definitely worth a visit if you’re present hunting and especially in the run-up to Christmas. There is also a coffee shop and the church itself is almost always open.

[12/52] Delirium

[12/52] Delirium

Week 12 entry for 52 weeks challenge.

This was a grab shot from the car while waiting at traffic lights at Greenford Broadway last weekend. I was attracted by the wonderfully colourful primulas (they must be Primula locus-concilium they are such a favourite of local authority Parks & Gardens Departments) in the Spring sunshine.

This wobbly processed form is about how I saw the picture at the time as I was just starting a high fever from some nasty flu-cum-bronchitis-bug-thingy that seems to be doing the rounds here at present. This bug is nasty. Noreen is now four weeks into it and is still not 100%. I thought I’d got away with it (just had a bit of malaise for a few days when Noreen was first down with it). But no, it mugged me and I have spent a large part of the last week snuggled under the duvet trying to get rid of a fever and graveyard cough and feeling like … well let’s not go there. I now feel bodily coldy; still totally depleted of everything both mental and physical; still with a cough, although that is going slowly; but today almost no voice.

But then I have just put away a hearty salad of pulled lamb, lamb’s lettuce, tomato and avocado with a couple of large glasses of white Burgundy (first alcohol in over a week!) which does somewhat restore the soul if not the body.
